HOW WILL MY PRIVACY BE PROTECTED?
For the purpose of this project, CSIRO is collecting limited information to ensure that you remain anonymous. The project will be conducted in ways that will comply with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
CSIRO will only collect your address, the last five digits of your phone number, your floor plan details and details about the construction materials of your home. We will not collect personal information such as your name or any demographic information about you. The information that we will collect is being collected for the purpose of using the energy rating tool and related scientific research.
If you participate in the project, the property valuer will use a tool called MagicPlan owned by a company called Technologies Sensopia Inc to record your address, floor plan details and construction material information about your home using an iPad. This data from the MagicPlan tool will be stored in the United States of America and accessed by the CSIRO project team in Australia. The MagicPlan app will not record any information that identifies you.
By participating in the project, you agree to the collection, use and disclosure of the information set out above and as described in the Participant Information Sheet entitled Energy Rating Tools Project.
You also consent to the transfer of your residential address, your floor plan and construction material details to servers located outside of Australia and you acknowledge that this information may not be subject to the requirements of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) Privacy Act. If you have any concerns about this, you should not participate in the project.
As part of your participation in the Energy Rating Tools Trial, CSIRO/Herron Todd White/Acumentis collect and use your email address for 2 explicit purposes. Firstly, your email address is utilized for sending a thank-you message and acknowledgment of your participation in the trial. Additionally, your email address is employed to provide information concerning the estimated energy rating of your property, based on the data collected using these tools under development. Understanding that these tools are an estimate only and to be used for your information purposes only.
Please be advised that your email address may be transferred to servers located in the European Union for processing. By participating in and providing your email address, you expressly consent to this transfer.
It is important to note that the servers in the European Union may not be subject to the requirements of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). Consequently, the protection of your information may differ from the standards established by the Australian Privacy Act.
Results from the project will be de-identified and/or aggregated and published/presented or shared in a variety of forums and with third parties. This includes research reports, scientific journal articles and conference papers and presentations.
