Chenath v3.21 update

December 13, 2018

A new Chenath engine (currently assigned version 3.21) is planned for release in 2019 which includes the following potential updates and improvements.

  1. Addition of limestone in the construction material library

  2. Changes in the effective thermal resistances of waffle pod modelling
The effective thermal resistances of waffle pod construction modelling will be changed to R0.57, R0.60, R0.63 and R0.65 for 175mm, 225mm, 300mm and 375mm pod heights respectively.
  3. An improved edge slab insulation model
Ground-coupled heat transfer model in the existing Chenath engine has its limitations and particularly has difficulties in dealing with insulated slab-on-ground situations. Chenath v3.21 has implemented an improved edge slab insulation model.
  4. Improvement in double height void modelling
Chenath v3.21 can handle the cases with a double height void zone connected to single or double height zone(s). In particular, a horizontal opening from this double height void zone to any other zone can be at any specified height.
  5. Inclusion of shared basement carpark zone type
A shared basement carpark zone type has been included in Chenath v3.21 for enclosed or semi-enclosed basement carpark modelling.
  6. Inclusion of apartment corridor zone type
An apartment corridor zone type has been included in Chenath v3.21 for shared apartment corridor modelling.

It is noted that this is a short brief of Chenath v3.21. Detailed explanations of these updates and improvements should refer to NatHERS administrator.
